Epic Games through court seeks restoration of account in App Store


Video game developer Epic Games sent an appeal to the court with a request to oblige Apple to restore the company's account in the App Store at the time of the trial. It is reported by Reuters. Epic Games is the developer of the popular multiplayer game Fortnite. In August, Epic Games launched its own payment system, which allows users to purchase Fortnite in-game currency bypassing application stores. With this, Epic Games expected to avoid the fee charged on all payments in app stores. However, Apple decided that these actions violate the rules for using the App Store and blocked the company's account. Representatives of Epic Games filed an appeal in the US District Court of the Northern District of California. However, the next meeting is scheduled only for September 28, and the whole trial may be delayed for several months. Therefore, Epic Games sent another appeal, urging the court to demand that Apple restore the developer's account during the trial. As previously reported by the news agency, on September 5, Epic Games representatives said that after the removal of Fortnite from the App Store, the average daily number of players using iOS devices decreased by 60%.
