The first car drove along the new bridge in Genoa

According to the new Genoese viaduct, built instead of the Morandi bridge that collapsed in August 2018, the first car drove on Tuesday, June 23. The construction of the supports of the new bridge was completed (some ahead of schedule) in April 2020. Last weekend, April 20 21, pedestrians first crossed the bridge, pioneering the mayor of Genoa, Marco Bucci, and the governor of the Liguria region, Giovanni Toti. The decision to put the viaduct into operation will be made after the final stage of state tests, the date of these tests should be set in the coming days.
