Eight people died as a result of riots in southern Kazakhstan
During the riots in the Kordai district of Zhambyl region of Kazakhstan, eight people were killed and 40 others were injured. This was announced by Minister of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan Erlan Turgumbayev at a briefing today, February 8. During the riots, 40 participants were injured and shot. Eight people, unfortunately, died of their injuries. In the line of duty, various injuries were sustained by police officers, including two gunshot wounds, said the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan Turgumbayev. The Minister also reported that the law enforcement agencies detained 47 people. The detainees were taken to the police department. Two hunting rifles were seized. We remind that the President of Kazakhstan Kasim-Zhomar Tokayev reported that in the south of the country there was a mass fight, but the authorities have already taken control of the situation.
