Snowden denied reports of the transfer of $5 million to US authorities
Former US intelligence officer Edward Snowden denied a CNN report about his agreement with the US authorities to refuse $5 million in profits from the sale of the book Personal File. He wrote about this on his Twitter page.
“5 million dollar book deal but I won’t sell my book for $5M,” Snowden tweeted.
“It is worth 5 million. I get a $200k advance against royalties. I have never sold it,” he added in a subsequent tweet.
Meanwhile, The Daily Beast reported that Edward Snowden has received a $5 million book deal, saying that he is “concerned with how the publishing industry will protect his rights as a whistleblower.”

A copy of the alleged book with the self-proclaimed whistleblower’s photo on the cover, allegedly has been obtained by the news agency. The image clearly features a picture of the whistleblower that was leaked by Snowden himself.
“There is no indication that Snowden consented to such a book deal and the deal has never been announced or officially finalized,” the report said.
On Thursday, Snowden tweeted a picture of his father on his 94th birthday.
