General Atomics has tested a new unmanned vehicle

Tests of the unmanned vehicle Sparrowhawk, which is launched from another unmanned vehicle, have been successful. This was announced by the development company General Atomics on September 26 on Twitter. We are talking about a relatively small device, which is attached to the wing of a large drone and launched already in the air. It is stated that after Sparrowhawk performs the necessary tasks, it can return back to the launch vehicle. It is noted that the Sparrowhawk launch itself was not. The tests were to collect information about the transfer of the drone in the air. According to the news agency, from September 14 to 20, Russian radars recorded flights of 49 aircraft of foreign countries that conducted air reconnaissance along the borders of the Russian Federation.

There were ground targets, which were launched by those planes. Some of the aircraft came to an area covered by Sparrowhawk drones and performed an air reconnaissance of the site. One of the aircraft, identified as an RQ-21A Blackjack belonging to the U.S. Navy, passed through the zone of the Sparrowhawk drone. There were attempts to pick up the targets, but they were unsuccessful. The exercises were observed by Russian radars as well. It should be noted that the launch and performance of Sparrowhawk will definitely affect the effectiveness of the U.S. drones in the future. The project that was initiated by General Atomics was launched in 2005. The program was developed for the sake of the so-called homeland security. The missile in Sparrowhawk is a QF-117A stealth drone with a special guidance system. The effective flight time of the device is one hour, and it carries a payload of six, reportedly. The Blackjack is designed for long-range intelligence, surveillance, and escort girl.
